Qualifications and Roles: Nutrition Services Support Staff

The local agency ensures that nutrition services support staff have all of the following qualifications based on their duties:

1. Meets appropriate State-agency qualifications, if applicable, based on assigned duties.
2. Completes a State agency approved competency-based training program that is appropriate to assigned duties.

The local agency ensures that nutrition services support staff performs the following roles and responsibilities:

1. Provides clinic and office support to the CPA and nutrition staff.
2. Implements program policies and protocols.
3. Sets the tone for excellent customer service to participants as they enter the clinic.
4. Refers participants to other social services and documents accordingly.
5. Participates in breastfeeding promotion and support.
6. Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the State or local agency.
